In PURSUIT

EXT. LAS OLAS BOULEVARD - SUNSET 

This is a public plaza where CHLOE, GRACE, and CAMILA are shopping while walking near the stalker, RACHEL. She is "eating" in an outdoor seating area but is really people-watching. RACHEL is blending into the background with her casual costume and newspaper to slightly cover her face. CHLOE is caught up talking with her friends. 

CHLOE 

(smile gradually falls) 

Ah, today was the best guys. We really need to hangout more since I'm leaving to college soon. 

 

CAMILA 

(while hugging CHLOE) 

Don't say that, we’re really going to miss you! 

 

GRACE 

(the girls group hug) 

Don't remind us Chloe! Why can’t you be juniors like us? 

 

FULL SHOT

RACHEL'S attention is caught by CHLOE.  

 

RACHEL 

(silently observing) 

Hmmm... 

 

MEDIUM-CLOSE UP ON RACHEL

Here it is revealed that Rachel begins obsession with CHLOE while watching and being very observative of her body language. 

 

CUT TO: 

INT. RACHEL'S HOUSE - DAY 

In Rachel's room is where her stalking can be seen with files, pictures of CHLOE, and a bulletin board as props. Rachel's face is not revealed yet, only her intentions and back profile. 

RACHEL 

(conniving and smirking) 

Let's see who you are CHLOE REED. 

 

RACHEL aggressively slams and slides a manila file folder in the shot frame with pictures of CHLOE, her grade reports, and birth documents. 

 

RACHEL (CON'T) 

Looks like an average perfect student, hmmm 18 years old... interesting.  

 

PAN SHOT OF RACHEL'S ROOM

 

FADE TO: 

INT. PUBLIX SUPERMARKET- AFTERNOON 

CHLOE and RACHEL are in the same isle in the supermarket. CHLOE is actually shopping while RACHEL is pretending to as a cover up for her stalking. Food products are going to be props. They meet "coincidentally".  

TRACKING SHOT

RACHEL

(purposefully bumping into CHLOE) 

I apologize, I am just trying to get something over here. 

 

CHLOE 

(sweetly) 

You're fine.  

 

RACHEL reaches across CHLOE to get an item.  

 

RACHEL 

I love your shoes! Where’d you get them? 

 

CLOSE-UP

RACHEL looks intriguingly at CHLOE'S face. 

 

CHLOE 

Thank you so much, they’re so comfy! I actually bought them at Macy’s. 

 

RACHEL 

(attempting to be casual) 

Oh, wow! I need to buy a pair for myself. 

 

CHLOE 

(awkwardly laughs) 

Yeah! 

 

CUT TO: 

   
EXT. SIDEWALK NEAR BAYVIEW - MORNING 

At this moment CHLOE is working out and RACHEL appears to already be aware and makes it her mission to casually bump into her again. A brief relationship is established. Costumes will consist of athleisure.  

They spot one another while passing. 

RACHEL 

(acts surprised and accidentally says CHLOE’S name) 

Oh my god, hi Chloe! 

 

CHLOE 

(truly surprised and doesn’t realize her name is said) 

This is so crazy, hi! 

 

Both characters stop and turn to each other. 

 

CHLOE 

(frazzled and out of breath from jogging) 

Wait you're... Didn't I meet you two days ago at Publix? 

 

RACHEL 

(confident and staring weirdly) 

Yes, that was me. (laughs) 

 

CHLOE 

(suspiciously) 

What a surprise to run into you again.  

 

CHLOE kind of distances herself but RACHEL gives a compliment and a warm touch to make her feel open. 

 

RACHEL 

(trying to get information out of CHLOE) 

Yeah, so bizarre. I actually live around here. What about you? Also, I have to say you have the prettiest eyes! 

 

They formally introduce themselves. 

 

RACHEL 

Also, by the way, I'm Rachel, nice to meet you! 

 

CHOLE 

Aw, thank you so much! I'm Chloe, I live near here too. 

 

Characters start walking together. 

 

RACHEL 

(jokingly) 

So far, I know you like to buy food and exercise, do you do anything else? 

 

CHLOE 

Haha, yeah, I actually love to not only buy food but clothes too. I’m obsessed! Probably a shopaholic! I'm actually going shopping tomorrow at the Galleria Mall. 

 

RACHEL 

(trying to end the conversation with her recently learned information on CHLOE) 

Totally, same... I love that mall. Well, nice meeting you. I have to go. 

 

CHOLE 

(suspiciously) 

Um bye, see you around. 

 

RACHEL 

Definitely. 

 

RACHEL jogs away. 

CLOSE UP SHOT of Chloe’s face looking back at Rachel, looking confused. 

JUMP CUT:

CHLOE jogs away.

FADE TO BLACK:

INT. CAFE - DAY 

The next day, CHLOE and her friends begin to suspect RACHEL. 

CHLOE 
(Sets her phone down and speaks nervously) 

Hey guys... I have something I want to talk to you about. 

 

Camila and Grace stop talking noticing how nervous Chloe looks and start to worry. 

CAMILA 

Sure what's up? 

GRACE 

Are you okay? 

CHLOE  

Yeah I'm fine it's just that something strange has been going on and I'm not sure if I'm overreacting.  

GRACE and CAMILA 

(Slightly overlapping) 

What's going on? 

CHLOE

Well a few days ago I was at Publix and I bumped into this girl named Rachel. It wasn't anything odd and she seemed really nice. But a few days after that I was on my daily run and she came up to me again... 

CUT TO:

 

INT. H&M - DAY

 

Time passed from that talking and then RACHEL started watching CHLOE while shopping at many stores  

CHLOE and her friends walk into the store and look around. 

CHLOE 

Ooo, This store is filled with great stuff. Look at these cute glasses! 

 

GRACE 

Yes! Oh my God they are! I feel like they really match your vibe. 

 

RACHEL in a subtle way passes behind them and to eavesdrop. 

 

CAMILA  

Go try them on in the mirror! 

 

CHLOE 

OK OK OK, YES I LOVE THEM…   

 

OVER THE SHOULDER SHOT

Through the mirror RACHEL catches CHLOE'S eye. 

 

CHLOE 

I’ll be right back. I just need to deal with something real quick. 

 

Chloe leaves the store alone and goes to the mall’s parking lot to lure Rachel into a trap.  

EXT./INT. PARKING LOT – EARLY EVENING 

Chloe goes to her car, knowing Rachel is following her. 

CHLOE 

Hm… Where is she? Oh I see her. 

Rachel gets closer to Chloe

CHLOE

Oh hi Rachel, weird seeing you here.

  

Rachel keeps getting closer, showing no emotion.

Rachel attempts to attack Chloe, but as Chloe expected it, she fights back: 

CHLOE 

I knew you were up to something.

  

As Chloe attacks Rachel back, Rachel passes out and Chloe starts dragging her towards her car and puts her into the trunk.  

Chloe starts driving

CHLOE 

               (Talking to herself) 

        Yeah that’s what you get for being a creep! 

EXT. PARKING LOT 2 – NIGHT 

As Chloe parks her car, she gets out with a bottle of lighter fluid  in her hand. She pours the lighter fluid all around the car. 

 

Chloe gets a lighter out of her pocket and puts on a pair of sunglasses. She throws the lighter onto the lighter fluid.

Flames shown in the reflection of Chloe’s sunglasses.
