Music Video Blog

This project was a very entertaining and interactive project for me. I truly felt like I was a professional when setting up the sets. It has changed my perspective on media once again. After filming I had so many takes I made a film of all of my takes, it turned out hilarious. Filming my video also helped me connect with different people who helped me and I help them. This film has allowed to understand the amount of handwork put behind a film. This music video, I believe correctly displays the song I chose and conveys the right emotional message. I enjoyed playing with the borders and filter I applied to make the video look like it was film. I included most of the conventions of chill pop music video. These conventions elevated my video and granted me the ability to try new editing skills. Once I reviewed it, I can see and tell that I could have improve on some aspects. Based off of my first film [the commercial] which was my basis of comparison for my growth I can say I have improved. Yet I still want to improve my skills and learn more about filming and editing.

My Last Day of Editing My Music Video

Today, I spent most of the day and night before, editing and taking out extra seconds I did not need. I added the remaining third scene is needed. The whole video has the song "comethru" inserted in it, it’s non-diegetic. I adjusted the music to be louder at times and quieter at others. The last shot, I changed to be a shot of a sunset with the artists name. It has a text overlay that comes in when the scene's exposure settles. I adjusted a lot of the scenes because they had extra seconds that were not necessary. For one of my scenes I looked at the music video conventions and saw that they added a lot of sunset shots in the videos. This impulsed me to try something new and I did the same thing. I filmed the shot in my car on the way to my vacation destination for my break. I very much enjoyed how it came out, I like doing new things. I think it suits this type of soft pop music video. To me some sections looked a little choppy but I had my mom take a look at it and she said it did not look choppy, my sister agreed too. We spoke together and they said they understood the meaning of the lyrics and song because of the video I made. I applied film border overlay on all of my scenes. In the beginning I arranged them the way that I originally had planned and it fit just right. Instead of changing the order of some scenes to make the scene reach a certain amount of time I just picked a different take. If I would not have done this the video would have not made sense because the scene match with the lyrics. I think the film border really embraces the conventions of chill pop videos. Also, in the music commercials their camera is not stabilized for a lot of the scenes which adds a nice effect. For two of my scenes I did not stabilize the camera and for the rest I did. Later on tomorrow, I’m going to make sure it all seems well as a final review with a fresh perspective. I believe all my hard work has come together to make a very well.
